Bob Arum just announced to Yahoo! Sports that fight is off.

How did boxing’s dream fight suddenly took the turn for the worse?  Well, it started with Mayweather’s accusation.  Face it, Mayweather involved with a fight that may test him?  Who were we kidding?  We can only dream that Mayweather puts the fisticuffs with somebody that may make a mark on him.

Now I’m not saying that Mayweather hasn’t fought great fighters.  He has.  Diego Corrales, Jose Luis Castillo, Phillip Ndou, Oscar, Juan Manuel, and the list goes on…. but the difference is, they all did not stand a chance against Mayweather’s speed.  We knew it at the time, but we watched because we wanted to be dazzled by Mayweather’s hands.  In the back of our mind though, we said, “What a boring fuckin’ fight!”

Pretty Boy Floyd and the rest of the boxing population that has a clue, knows that his speed and precision would be too much for a normal speed fighter.  Yeah the boxer can have a heart of a lion like Baldomir or Gatti, but when Mayweather lands 5 shots and ducks out of the way from a right hook, you know Pretty Boy can just work off the 12 rounds by ducking, shots, show counter punching excellence, and win it on the score cards.  Great job of earning my friend’s 50 bucks Floyd.

Pacquiao on the other hand, has not only dominated all these legendary bad ass fighters (Hatton, Cotto, Barrera, Marquez, Morales, etc…) with fantastic fights, he has literally forced the Mexican population in the United States to lose ample amounts of money to their Asian friends ie. me.  So why do I have no problems betting on Pacquiao?  I watched a fight back in 2001 where Pacquiao literally worked this guy at a high intensity for 12 rounds.  Have you ever heard, you play the way you practice?  If a guy that trains this hard, why is it surprising to Mayweather that Pacquiao has went up in weight and dominated?

Now I don’t want to get into details about the accusations and response but I’ll tell you this.  Having blood drawn reduces performance.  Take it from a guy that studies exercise physiology.  Drawing blood for drug testing takes about 10 ml.  I read on some of the comment boards (good source of legit info!) backing Mayweather, that a pint of blood takes a day to replenish and the guy divided it by 560.  He claims that Pacquiao can replenish that in 2 hours.  Than he proceeds to call Pacquiao a bitch.  How can I argue with simple logic?

I’m not surprised by Mayweather and his camp’s accusation of Pacquiao.  The guy obviously doesn’t want to fight Pacquiao.  He doesn’t want to fight Mosley either.  Maybe its because Mosley and Pacquiao have speed and power that closely match Mayweather’s.  Maybe.  But Mayweather knows why he prefers to fight slower fighters that have beaten or tested Pacquiao and Mosley.  After the fight, he can say that because he beat that guy easily, you have to hypothetically assume Mayweather will kill Pac Man and Sugar Shane.  Simple logic people.

P.S. Hopefully you catch points in this rant where I used sarcasm.  If not, you will probably be really confused on my stance.
