You know, Mr. Cartoon looks like my friend’s dad. The difference though, is that Mr. Cartoon has creative talent and doesn’t suffer from diabetes… On another note, I thought Sam Anderson (Bernard from Lost) was there and I was about to nerd out. On closer observation, it was not Sam Anderson and it furthered my belief that all old white men look alike.

Heineken Limited Edition Design Challenge – Judging Video

International judging panel gather in New York to select three finalist designs to go through to next stage of Limited Edition Design Challenge.

My favorite has to be the first one with all those color strings. It seems so simple but it is really brilliantly designed. It contrasts so well with the clean Heineken star.

To mark its forthcoming 140th anniversary Heineken® has been challenging creative talent from around the world to connect through social media and design its next Limited Edition bottle. Budding designers paired up to design each side of the bottle via Facebook, and find another bottle half to ‘connect’ with. Now the entries are in, and the top 100 designs that show how people will connect in the future have been pulled out for display on the beer’s Facebook page. This long list will be judged by an international panel from the world of design and culture. The winning partnership will see their design launched in an exclusive 140th anniversary Limited Edition gift pack going on sale globally from December 2012.

The winning design will be revealed at the end of March after a multi-skype presentation where finalists showcase their designs to the judging panel. C10 – Here We Go Again

Bio: Nowadays rappers come a dime a dozen, but Columbus, Oh native C10 is determined to stand out
from the pack. C10 (real name Chad Tennant) found a love for music at the early age of 11 when his father bought him a trumpet. He then learned how to read music and soon started writing raps. Shortly after he started producing and recording his own tracks. “I still remember my first rap, ‘are we rough enough’. Even then I was all about battle rapping.”

After a short stint in college, 10 returned to his hometown and cofounded Omnibreed,a group of friends who chased the same dream. Omnibreed went on to release several underground projects, (many of which contained production by the artist himself) and performed at countless venues allowing 10 to perfect his craft and showmanship. In 2007, C10 debuted his solo project titled “The Teacher.” Enthusiastic feedback from listeners certifies this album as an indie classic. Two years later, C10 was back in the studio and released his second solo production called “Cut The Check.” Not only did the project show growth in lyrical prowess, the effort solidified him as one of the most renowned acts in the midwest.

Currently C10 is concentrating on feeding his budding fan base. Opening up for national artist like Talib Kweli, Too Short and Ghostface Killa to name a few. He is set to release
several new projects, one of which include an album titled “Burning Bridges”. Other projects soon to be released is a Volume 3 Omnibreed mixtape as well as an untitled album with his newest collaboration The Luxury League. When C10 is asked how does he stay motivated, he had this to say “Im just not gonna stop doing what I believe in, period.

Gravis Footwear Instagram Photo Contest

Well, it didn’t take long for Instagram to be the next big thing in social/hipster media. I have a Instagram too but it is not very active because I refuse to take self-indulgent photos.

Southern California based alternative footwear and accessory brand Gravis has launched the Gravis Instagram Photo Contest beginning March 1st and running throughout 2012.

Gravis Footwear will encourage their audience to follow @gravisfootwear on popular photo-sharing platform, Instagram. Users are then able to upload photos, tag them with #gravisphotocontest and become entered to win a free pair of Gravis shoes.

Heineken Open Design Explorations Edition 1: The Club

Heineken has been working for the past year with emerging designers on a progressive pop-up nightclub which responds to the needs of clubbers. It will be unveiled at the Milan Design Week in April.

The Heineken project is called Heineken Open Design Explorations Edition 1: The Club. It has been designed by 19 up-and-coming designers – chosen from Milan, New York, Sao Paulo and Tokyo, by world class design experts – and is an exciting opportunity to showcase their visionary take on club design on a world stage. Coming from a range of different disciplines – from interiors to fashion – the club is the conclusion of almost a year of discovery between the emerging designers, Heineken and clubbers’ input; all to create an exclusive environment that can now be experienced by members of the public.

The club is a great demonstration of how the world of interiors, graphics, fashion, products and motion design have combined to create a club that responds to clubbers needs. The project has led to some unique collaborative designs between the designers involved, and seen them act on the insight offered by the clubbers to create some distinctive work.

New bar and kitchen, Plan Check just opened up in West L.A. The kitchen/bar’s architecture is pretty sharp and is representative of the neighborhood’s culture. I haven’t eaten there yet, but it must be good when my friend who doesn’t eat meat ordered a burger there and liked it. Plan Check’s burgers must be legit. I also think she was peer pressured into ordering one. Peer pressure… we wouldn’t do anything out of our comfort zone if it wasn’t for our friends that totally disregard our beliefs and well-being.

I did not know that The Mighty Mos changed his name to Yasiin Bey. One of my favorite rappers of all time talks about time in the music industry and discuss various subjects such as his new series Top 40 Underdogs and his work with Talib Kweli who is another favorite of mine. Speaking of underdogs, the site has been taking a major break lately by my own choosing. At the peak of the site, I would get emails after emails of PR that got in the way of the quality of my posts. Taking this break not only got people off my back, but also allowed me to be creative again with how I want to approach the news. Now I can experiment again with different jokes and writing techniques that I have gained along the way without having to worry about linking back and making sure information that the PR people request is included. There is a reason why I don’t have ad space on the site. I’m not here to hustle or make “cheese”, but I’m here to work on my craft and entertain the few that I have develop a good working relationship with.

I always find these celebrity interviews to be a good read. You read about these young celebs try to portray themselves as human as possible but to a extreme length. For example, many of the interviews always feature the celebs that haven’t made a name for themselves yet, talk about how Nietschze or any philosophical heroes are a major influence in their life and then they stare off into nothingness. It’s B.S. to me when people act the “emo” way. It gives the appearance of intelligence and self-awareness but to me, it’s a person that do not understand the path they are heading.

We all had moments in our life where we question and wonder what it is all meant, but that is the easy way of approaching life. Every good story has a beginning and end, but the key is the journey in between. Michelle Williams, at 31, with one child, and no Heath, still does not realize how good she got it and constantly have to put on display this struggling soul for us to read. It can be all an act, it could be for real, but ol’ girl needs to get a clue and just enjoy life.

Most of the time, I get into how hot Michelle Williams is, and probably make jokes here and there but this is a testimonial to how good Chris Heath approached this article. When you make me drop my normal approach and become involved with the subject, you know you did a good job.

The article is definitely worth the read at GQ.com. I’m pretty sure most of you won’t, and just go to the slideshow. How do I know this? Google Analytic told me 62% of my readers are illiterate…

Check out GQ’s interview with Mark Wahlberg on what he’s been up too with the movie Contraband and his producing work with Entourage and the recently defunct (happily so by me) How To Make It in America. Two things I got from this interview. One, actors take their craft too seriously. Here’s my take on actors. You get paid millions of dollars to act like somebody else. Why is that important? Two, whoever says “Entourage episodes are too short” is missing a key component of the human genomics that caps off the level of douche-dom intake per episode. It’s a serious problem that is destroying the country….
