Ouattara Watts featured in Cool Hunting

Brooklyn artist Ouattara Watts was featured in Cool Hunting this week in the midst of his new exhibition. There is a few things I appreciate in this world and that’s creative art. I’m a person that enjoy the creative process over the results any day of the week. It is very, very difficult to come up with your own work, and this is not just in the art world but everything else from our job, our research, and our passion. If you sit down and really think about the work you do, then it is tough to be modest about your efforts. I talk about my research all the time, and I always try to be modest about it even though people praise it for its creativity and contribution. Being modest I feel, keeps me process oriented rather than results. I leave the perception of my results to the audience.

The exhibition opens Feb. 7 to Feb 19 on 560 Washington St.

I was really thinking about this look to try out Saturday when I was in Vegas. It is a borrowed look from the typical Vegas club goer but rather than a cheap suit and shiny ugly colored dress shirt, you use a Gingham shirt, patterned suit, and pocket square gives this style a more hip look which is far above the douchebaggery of Vegas.

Hell on Wheels Indian Massacre storyboards

I always love the storyboards behind the scenes especially for a show like Hell on Wheels which feature some of the best cinematic sequence on television. These storyboards gives you a hint into the thought process of the director on how they want to guide the scene along and how it should be shot. If you haven’t gotten a chance to check out AMC’s Hell on Wheels, it’s definitely one of the best shows on television.

Hyperreal Paintings by Diego Gravinese

I’m currently revamping my picture collection and Diego Gravinese’s work is a must for me. The use of oil and acrylic paintings for his super realistic photos gives almost a photo like picture with some imagination such as the rain forest by the pool or having sex in the Justice League’s meeting place, this is work that keeps me curious in what Diego is smoking. You should definitely check out the rest of his work at his site.

Ewan McGregor got the color blue going in his slideshow which features the 3 piece, plaid, and cardigan with matching ties that bring out the color in the shirt. Super sharp especially the denim shirt shown above.

GQ’s Men of the Year – Jay-Z

Here’s Jay-Z looking sharp in a black and white suit. On the topic of black and white suits, that color pattern has somewhat become a gimmick. I think the suit looks really sharp and I would sport it myself, but when I do, it feels somewhat out of place. I guess it’s because of the Tarantino movies or it’s the preferred color for funerals but I just don’t feel comfortable wearing it anymore unless I add some color to it.

But for the sake of the photo, Jay-Z is sporting the hell out of the suit. He is 1/4 covers on the annual GQ Men of the Year issue which shows up on newsstands November 22. You can check out Jay-Z’s interview at GQ.com.

Here are a couple pictures from the MetroPCS tokidoki flagship store in Melrose, Los Angeles on Nov. 3rd hosted by Brenda Song and featuring performances from Das Racist and Them Jeans. The exclusive event celebrates the launch of Huawei M835 Sanctioned by tokidoki, a special-edition Android handset designed by the Los Angeles-based cult apparel and accessory brand.

Charitable donations went to the Marley Mission’s 1love charity. I’ve checked. It does not promote marijuana use but it does reward young people that work for peace, unity, and dreadlocks on white people. On another note, Brenda Song’s boyfriend is Miley Cyrus’ brother who is ridiculously emo. I think I’m going to go emo to pick up chicks like Brenda Song. That will rule!

On a personal note, because I always like to relate current news of the site to a specific post, I think as my time of blogging dwindles down because of the increased workload at grad school, the focus and aim of Wally Champ becomes narrower. As it narrows, my work in school gradually merges with my blog not because I’m mentally occupied with it, but it just seems easier and more motivating to write here.

People who constantly goes by this notion of “hustling” and making money, dilutes all the real talented folks to be noticed, and you get stuck with receiving PR from DJs who makes mixtapes with other people’s music and people who constantly self-promote in their form emails. I have managed to weed out some and ignore some of the garbage I have no interest in, but at the same time, as my inbox gets filled up with nonsense after nonsense, it becomes harder to seek through and rid the bad ones with the lack of time I have. So just for the moment, to get myself off some of these self promoters’ list, I’ll be finding stuff like this where real artists gets to use their creative energy to help others and not annoying “hipsters” or “hustlers” whose only goal is to fill their own pockets. Hopefully, my inactivity will reduce the shameless promoting, and I get more time to concentrate on what I like, which is women, fashion, and art.
