The Beatles: Rock Band limited edition

Monday, February 8th, 2010

For a while, I was running this Office Max ink scam and made a hefty $400 in gift cards. The first thing I got was a brand new all-in-one printer, a set of ink that would last me a year, and Beatles: Rock Band Limited Edition! Seriously, if I did not have the gift cards, I would not have gotten the limited edition one. So what’s the main difference between the regular and limited?

Well in the limited edition, you get the very cool Hofner designed guitar which resembles the one that Paul McCartney used. It is also wireless which is very cool. The guitar uses batteries which is a downside because you expect it to be like the controllers that are rechargeable.

The second cool thing about the limited edition pack is the wireless drum set that resembles the one Ringo Starr used. The only difference in the picture is that I attached the silencer drum pads which I bought separately. I decided to get it because I was pounding the drums pretty hard. You also get a pretty cool Ludwig “The Beatles” front banner too. The wireless drums also uses batteries. I think you can do without the wireless drums but it does look pretty cool though.

The microphone is pretty standard and you do get a stand with it. I’m still trying to master being like John Lennon and Paul McCartney by singing and playing at the same time. No luck yet. I’m pretty I would eventually have to learn the song and not pay attention to the lyrics.

Overall, I really like this buy. Mainly for the fact that it really cost me nothing but the story mode is super cool. You get never before seen photos and footages from The Beatles. Also, I was never a huge fan of the Beatles until this game. I can see why there are so many Beatles fan out there. Their music was freaking awesome. The video footage during the game is pretty cool too as you see The Beatles come to life while playing. It does become too distracting though because you don’t want to miss out on the notes.

Now granted, some of the notes are not too complicated such as Rock Band and it does not have cross compatibility with the past games. But whatever, that’s all technical stuff to me. The point of the game is to get you appreciation of The Beatles and it worked for me.

The whole thing may cost you $250 in stores but you can easily get them at Amazon for $200. But, if you already have the instrument or that you are a lonely guy that only loves the guitar, you can find ways to make it cheaper for yourself. There are downloadable music online which I read, are the more popular songs. I’m pretty sure I will end up buying it because I don’t pay much for music nowadays because of torrents.
